Experience

Biography

Born on California’s Central Coast in Santa Barbara in 1998, Charles Cole is a leader of the youngest voter generation. The son of a patented designer/builder father, and a small business bookkeeper mother, Charles is educated in accounting, statistics and business in high school and at Santa Barbara City College.

It is there that Charles encountered the decay of California state government and the decline of state education into indoctrination via political correctness. Faced with a system hostile to business, entrepreneurship and conservative values, Charles decided to run for the 37th District seat on State Assembly in Sacramento. Unlike a career politician, Charles is the contemporary echo of Ronald Reagan’s principles and values in California politicBorn on California’s Central Coast in Santa Barbara in 1998, Charles Cole is a leader of the youngest voter generation. Questions & Answers

Questions from League of Women Voters of California (4)

Describe what proposal(s) you would support to alleviate the shortage of affordable housing for all income groups in California?
Answer from Charles W. Cole:

In the district, elitest leaders have stopped home and business building using SOAR and slow walking development of infrastructure and a general hostility to growth as the methods. This hostility is actually harming the middle classes including minority comunities that want and need energy and manufacturing jobs that the NIMBY elitests are forbiding. I endorse original mission the Sierra Club: “To practice and promote the responsible use of the earth's ecosystems and resources.” But I note that the Sierra Club has long since strayed from their principles. To learn more about how this once-respected organization has descended into elitist NIMBYism, please read thisexcellent letter from United Latinos Votethat was published in the Santa Barbara Independent.

When elected to the Assembly, I will sponsor legislation to protect responsible use of the earth’s resources while opposing any legislation used by state agencies to over-regulate private enterprise.

What programs or legislation would you support to meet the water needs of all Californians?
Answer from Charles W. Cole:

Build more dams. Close the borders. Begin trapping local waters where they exist.  You can't save the environment by powering your Prius with electricity from a neighboring state. Nuclear is the cleanest option available.

To reach a goal of carbon neutrality by 2045, as set forth in a 2018 executive order what, if any, proposals, plans or legislation would you support?  Please be specific.

To be fair, I note thatthe Governors executive orders are extinguished at the end of office term.

According to the California Legislative Analyst’s Office, we spend over $81,000 per individual who is incarcerated.  Other than incarceration, what ways can the State address safety and justice?
Answer from Charles W. Cole:

Close borders. Increase work programs in prisons. Deport undocumented fellons. Allow private sectors to create more middle and working class energy and manufacturing jobs, which means remove government impediments to these areas.

A PRINCIPLED LEADER

From his two scholastic trips to Europe, Charles appreciates the greatness of America as the beacon of opportunity to the world. From his studies of American History in Washington, D.C., Charles learned the wisdom of America’s constitutional founders that the people should not fear their government, but government should fear the people. From living on the Central Coast of California under a one party rule for decades, Charles discovered the disappointing truth of President Reagan’s famous words: “The nine most terrifying words in the English language are ‘I'm from the government and I'm here to help.’”

Currently, Charles is partnered with his father Thomas in a small business public relations firm, 805Analytics. One of Charles’s recent videos, about City College students disrupting the Pledge of Allegiance, garnered huge attention nationwide. Charles is a bridge-builder between generations and viewpoints, regularly participating in Young America’s Foundation (YAF) lectures and symposiums at the Reagan Ranch Center where he listens to liberal, conservative, libertarian and independent thinkers, activists and office holders.

Summary

Digital Privacy and Security

Charles Cole is a staunch defender of the 1st and 14th Amendments and supports a decentralized, limited-government approach to digital privacy and free speech online. https://www.coleforassembly.com/issues

Current state education policies prioritize feelings over reasoning.https://www.coleforassembly.com/issues

Disaster Response and Debt/ Welfare Statism

Summary

Radical environmentalists in the State Assembly allow wild-fire fuel to grow unabated until conflagrations take our homes, businesses, jobs, and even our lives. Our state does not have enough buckets to utilize annual snow pack water runoff.

Our state lets that runoff flow out to sea. In the State Assembly, I will sponsor legislation to clear-cut around power lines, clean out debris from flood basins and restore sanity to environmental regulations

It is not the job of government to create a welfare state, to gather votes to itself. Nor is it government’s role to employ vast numbers of unneeded public employees doing what could otherwise be done by private businesses in a freer market.

Unchecked, government will grow and metastasize indefinitely. We must use our power as voters and grass-roots leaders to stop the proliferation of wasteful government programs.
