The central tenant of my campaign is to advocate for affordable housing solutions. The lack of affordable housing is one of the most important issues facing the city, our county, and our country. This is especially true in SLO County where we were ranked by the National Association of Home Builders to be the seventh least affordable county in the nation.
I have worked in the low income and affordable housing industry for over two decades. As a Director for a local non-profit housing developer, I lead a department of about 100 employees. I know how to manage people and vying priorities. I have in-depth knowledge of the development process for affordable housing communities. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. I serve on several local non-profit boards. Those non-profit organizations include the 5 Cities Homeless Coalition and the Grover Beach Community Library, where I volunteered as a librarian before becoming a board member. I have served on the Grover Heights Elementary School site council. I also carve out time to help with local conservation efforts by volunteering with organizations such as ECOSLO and Your Children’s Trees. No matter how busy I am, I make time for my volunteer activities because I care about my community and I believe that my knowledge and skill sets can help the city continue forward, in the right direction.
