My Top 3 Priorities

  • My intent as a Commissioner is to help manage our harbor so that it meets our communities needs, from our fishermen, protecting sea life, recreational users to our local residents.
  • I am dedicated to recognizing and preserving the history of Port San Luis so our local community and visitors can enjoy it for generations to come. I will work toward keeping both our harbor and beaches safe, clean and accessible.

Biography

SLO County has been my home my whole life and I am always looking for ways to give back.  My goals for representing our community as a Commissioner at Port San Luis Harbor are. 1) I volunteered as 1 of 2 ocean swimmers with the first CalFire Estero Bay Ocean Rescue Team in San Luis County. I plan to ensure our Lifeguards and Harbor Patrol have everything they need to serve San Luis Bay and our community. 2) With 30 years of construction experience, I can over see Harbor projects, maximize every dollar we spend and follow through so that the Harbor does not become a tax burden to our community. 3) Being in direct contact with the Chumash and  Salinan Indian tribes, I will be able to help protect sacred Indian grounds and historic Indian villages .

4) We all can agree that the beaches throughout San Luis County have been experiencing more trash then ever before. I would like to develop a program that would educate users on the importance of keeping our beaches clean. 5) I believe that the Avila Pier has been sitting unused long enough. It is time to do what is necessary to get that pier repaired so we can enjoy it once again. 6) I believe the Commercial Fishing Industry at Port San Luis is a big part of the history of San Luis Obispo. Many of the old families on the Central Coast are both Ranchers & Fisherman that provide food to our communities. We as a community should support the integrity and history of those industries. 7) Being from the area and in the ocean since I was very young. I was a pro surfer in my younger years and explored every nook and cranny of this coastline. I care very much about the well-being of our sea life as well as all marine animals that take residence in our oceans. I will help to ensure their protections.
