Biography

I have been an active part of our Santa Maria Valley since 1992, and have volunteered with the Santa Barbara County Animal Shelter, Santa Maria Valley Humane Society, Central Coast SPCA, YMCA, Pine Grove Robotics Club, National MS Society, and GALs. I am also a member of the Orcutt Academy School Advisory Council.

I am the Payroll Manager for Santa Barbara Unified School District, after leaving Hancock College at the end of March 2020, serving as a payroll technician for twelve years.

While at Hancock, I served on numerous councils, committees and task forces, such as the LEAP steering committee and Facilities Council, and had key roles in three software implementations. While serving as co-chair of the Sustainability Committee, I was able to get electric vehicle chargers installed on the Santa Maria campus with the aid of a Santa Barbara Air Pollution Control District Grant, and set the wheels in motion for the Lompoc campus electric vehicle charger project with the same grant. I was also instrumental in getting the Santa Maria campus solar panel project approved. We installed hydration stations at our Public Safety Training Complex in Lompoc, updated the Santa Maria campus irrigation system to be more efficient, and many other eco friendly projects.

I have been a Hancock student, earning degrees in Business Management, Business Administration, Business Marketing, and Liberal Arts, a student worker, full time employee, parent of a student, currently a parent of an incoming student in two years, and a community member of Allan Hancock College. I bring unique and very current perspectives of Hancock. I am able to look at situations from all sides and ask questions, not just from a community view, but from an employee or a parent perspective. Also, with my current position as a Payroll Manager, I am still very much up to date on fiscal responsibility.

Hancock holds a very special place in my heart, and I want to keep working for the good of the students, staff and faculty that make it so special.

Political Beliefs

Political Philosophy

Hancock College needs a trustee who understands education from the inside out. Because of my unique experience as a recent Hancock employee, and as a current school district administrator, I have the knowledge that is essential to ensure fiscal responsibility, student success, unity and equity across campus. I'm not a career or polished politician. I'm just a person who tries hard to fight for what is right, and I want to continue to do that for Hancock. I'm here for everyone. I will listen to you, and strive to ensure that the needs of the students, employees and community are being met. Elect me to continue providing Hancock students and staff with a safe and supportive learning and working environment.
