Policy

As Congress Member what, if any, policies or legislation would you support to preserve democracy for all US residents?

No answer provided.
What legislation, if any, would you support to reduce American greenhouse gas production?  Please explain the reasons for your position.
Answer from Rose Penelope Yee:

We need a multi-pronged approach to reducing greenhouse gas emissions:

1. Conservation - we need to reduce our energy demands, both on individual and institutional levels. Examples would be legislation that provides for free or subsidized energy audits,  and aims to weatherize homes and buildings; increase efficiency of HVAC systems; higher standards for vehicle emissions; incentives for conversion to battery electric vehicles.

2. Finance research and development of innovative energy solutions - A great example is the Charge Around Australia Project where scientists are taking a Tesla electric vehicle on a 15,000 km road trip and powering it with printed solar panels. Another is the Virtual Power Plant that Tesla is innovating in Australia where a network of homes with solar power and battery storage are networked together to form a virtual power grid.

3. Enact a Green New Deal -  Invest in clean, renewable energy and storage; finance state of the art mass transportation projects; encourage distributed energy systems. For example, the city of Redding has its own electric utlitiy with 50% of its energy generated from hydro, wind, and solar, and benefits residents with rates that are 30-40% lower than investor owned utlitilites like PG&E.

Political Beliefs

Political Philosophy

Rose decided to enter politics as an independent candidate. She believes that the two-party system that dominates our political process is harmful to the interests of the majority of Americans.
Rose’s campaign for Congress CA 1 is centered on Healthcare for All, College and Trade Schools for All, and Jobs for All.
She believes in being fair, just and kind, but is tenacious and not afraid to fight. If elected, she strongly resolves to do the necessary legislative work, as well as engage in direct action, to advance these issues.
