Icela is a proud single mother of two boys that attend Vintage High School. Demetrio and JJ are active volunteers at Dia de la Familia – Napa Valley Farmworker Foundation and are currently involved with numerous sports, church activities, volunteering at the local Boys & Girls Club of Napa Valley, and packaging/distributing gifts for the less fortunate of our county.
Icela is the second in her family who has ventured to start her own small business practice – Agricultura Safety Training, May of 2015. Her career commenced in 2005 with a Napa Valley farm labor contractor as a Human Resources/Safety Coordinator. This is where she found her calling for farm safety. Her career includes working for a branch of the California Farm Bureau. She was exposed to commodities and areas of work never imaginable. Working directly as an health and safety instructor, consultant, mentor to workers and businesses in Oregon, California and Arizona. She is a dedicated advocate for farm workers health and safety. Her work has led her to many conferences and seminars statewide - Napa Valley Grapegrowers, Napa, Sonoma and Stanislaus County Farm Bureau’s, USDA and AgSafe. Recently she was asked to lecture at the Santa Rosa Junior College for the “Sustainable Viticulture Program” – Safety & Leadership Practices Series. Icela is an active volunteer within her community as an Educational Director for Napa County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Subcommitee/Commitee member and Instructor for the Napa County Farmworker Foundation - Napa Valley Grapegrowers, Napa Valley Latino Heritage Committee Member, CPR Instructor, CERT Napa Valley, and Holiday Assistance Volunteer for the Salvation army to name a few.
