Jess’ parents — her dad, a proud Teamster in the trucking industry, and her mother, a school teacher — taught her the importance of giving back through public service. She has spent her career advocating on behalf of those that need it the most, including our most vulnerable children, to ensure they have the services and resources they need. This is why Jess fights so hard for our community every day and will keep fighting for us in the Assembly. Jess has spent her professional career as an attorney being a voice for the voiceless. It’s that work that brought her to Modesto a decade ago. Jess quickly fell in love with this community and decided to plant her roots here and make it her home.
As a longtime Central Valley community leader and advocate for working families, Jess has an extensive history of service to the community. She currently served as the Vice President of programs for the Stanislaus County Commission for Women, Executive Boardmember to the California Democratic Party and Emeritus Chair of the Stanislaus County Democratic Party. Jess was previously Vice President of the LGBTQIA+ advocacy group MoPride, board member of the Stanislaus County Humane Society, and board member of the Stanislaus County ACLU chapter.
Jess also founded the Blue Wave Project in 2015 which works to recruit, endorse, support, and elect new candidates to local government. Jess is a proud union member with Operating Engineers Local Union #3 (OE3), and lives in Modesto with her husband Eric, a realtor and Marine veteran, their dog Dewey, and cat Ollie.
